10/4 In the Flesh

If I asked you to accompany me to hear an author who is tall, has a lisp, a stutter, a big head, ten extra teeth and is near and far sighted would you come?
If I asked you to accompany me to hear an author who is crass, caustic, pessimistic and irreverent would you come?
If I asked you to accompany me to hear an author who is hilarious, realistic, a great question asker and honest would you come?

What if this author was one and the same?

I attended the Puyallup library Banned Book event to hear Sherman Alexie (see 9/25).
And I was not disappointed.
I was ruffled a little bit
and Provoked
and Inspired
and I think all of those can be good things.
Because then we remember that is okay to ask questions and that we should ask questions
and it is good and important to look at life through a different lens sometimes.

In the flesh
Have you ever thought how much we edit our own lives?
 - our past and our history -
And that this "editing" affects our honesty.
Sometimes we do it to impress others with our image/facade.
And sometimes we do it so that we don't have to relive the pain.

What do you need to be honest about?
